Information on the Video Award

gotsvideoaward

The German-Austrian-Swiss Society for Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Sports Medicine (GOTS) donates well-endowed awards to recognise members for outstanding scientific achievements. These awards include the Michael Jaeger Award, the Best Paper Award, the Young Investigator Award as well as Poster Awards, which will be presented on the occasion of the GOTS Annual Meeting. In addition to its academic orientation, GOTS places major emphasis on the more practical aspects of the work of orthopaedists, trauma and emergency surgeons, physiotherapists, and sports scientists. To honour accomplishments that are based mostly on clinical experience GOTS is announcing the third 2016 GOTS Award for Video Instructions.

In contrast to the scientific awards the GOTS Award for Video Instructions serves to recognise work that provides practical tips & tricks and captures everyday clinical experience in the form of educational videos and thus help GOTS members familiarise with new ideas and concepts.

The competition is open to all GOTS members. The purpose of the GOTS Award for Video Instructions is to create videos for GOTS members that capture the most important aspects of a procedure in a short video sequence, lasting no more than five minutes. In trying out this completely new format, GOTS is for the first time performing the balancing act between scientific research on the one hand, and practical clinical experience on the other hand. We would like to encourage you to submit video sequences on the various topics described in the competitive call announcement and, in this way, to share your knowledge with all GOTS members. The winner of the third GOTS Award for Video Instructions will be chosen in a complex review and selection process and then be announced at the 2016 Annual Meeting. Due to the support provided by DJO Global, a cash prize of 2,000 Euros can be awarded to the winner for the best video in 2016.

We hope that the new format serves to powerfully underscore our Society‘s future-oriented mentality, and we look forward to receiving your contributions to the first GOTS Award for Video Instructions competition.

Best Regards
