The Society for Orthopaedic Traumatologic Sports Medicine is the world's second largest coalition of specialists in sport orthopaedics

The „Society for Orthopaedic Traumatologic Sports Medicine“ (Gesellschaft für Orthopädisch-Traumatologische Sportmedizin, GOTS) is the world’s second largest coalition of specialists in sport orthopaedics. The GOTS is the number one in the treatment of sports injuries and guarantees reliability, competence, experience and outstanding quality of care for sports injured patients.The GOTS provides highest standards in consultancy.

More than 900 of the leading physicians in sport orthopaedic surgery of the German speaking countries are united in the GOTS. Beyond ensuring competent medical care for patients with sport injuries the GOTS set the standards for treatment of sport orthopaedic injuries and consequences of physical strain. The annual meeting of the GOTS is the event for exchange of ideas and knowledge.

Training and education of young doctors in orthopaedic sports medicine is an essential focus of the work of the GOTS. To achieve these goals the GOTS offers a comprehensive education and training programme in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and a fellowship programme in Europe and Asia. Beyond that the GOTS publishes the journal „Sportorthopädie – Sporttraumatologie“ and the „GOTS-Manual der Sporttraumatologie“.

The membership of physicians of sport associations and of national Olympic teams connects the GOTS closely with competitive medicine. They mediate their experience and knowledge on their annual intensive educational course for competition medicine.
